2008 U.S. Women's Chess Championship
News from Dr. Alexey Root (blogging for the USCF), who played for the one woman's wildcard spot open in the Women's Championship:
Iryna Zenyuk was the top woman, with 4 of 7. She won $1000, and the Wild Card spot. However, she may qualify for the women's based on rating. CLO will report on which of the seeded players for the women's have declined, and whether Iryna therefore gets a rating spot. If she does, then Chouchanik Airapetian, who had the best tiebreaks of the women finishing with 3.5 of 7, will get an invitation to the May event.
