Random Round-up
The latest Random Round-up (for the week of October 5th) is now up and running at Goddesschess (in the left-hand column). It's usually updated every Sunday but Mr. Don has been busy putting together the tons of video he filmed at the 89th Montreal Open Chess Tournament into coherent tournament videos, so he got a late start this week.
I think you'll enjoy it, though. It's got lots of information about chess and films. Gee, I wonder where he ever got the idea...

Updates, We've Got Updates!
Long overdue updates for the month of May, 2009 made at Chess Femme News (go to Goddesschess and click on the link for Chess Femme News in the left hand navigation bar). I'm now working on April.
Mr. Don has also put together a new Random Round-up now that he's back in the saddle in Montreal. RR can be found at Goddesschess in the right hand column. This week he presents an interesting mix. Teeth of the God, anyone? Q: What did the backgammon player say to the crocodile? A: My, what big teeth you have. Q: What did the crocodile say to the backgammon player? A: Crunch crunch, thanks for being lunch.
Okay - so I'm lame.

Random Round-Up
dondelion has outdone himself this week with an All Chess, All The Time theme for this week's Random Round-Up at Goddesschess, cued on an article provided to Goddesschess for publication by Lawrence Totaro on Dali and chess. Mr. Totaro is a chessplayer, collector of chess memorabilia and author. In keeping with the Dali theme, Mr. Don sent the following photo of himself imitating art imitating artist...
Pssst - the guy holding the queen is the real dondelion... I could never love a guy who gave me the finger :)

Chess News
Darlings! Please keep your eye on Goddesschess tonight; even as I type this, delion is busy working on the weekly update to Random Round-up and, in addition, those fabulous Las Vegas Showgirls, Candi Kane and Bambi Darlin, have emailed Goddesschess an exclusive review of the first four games of the World Chess Championship Match between Anand and Kramnik! Their hot off the press review will also be up and running sometime tonight!

This and That
The October edition of JanXena's Les Echecs des Femmes is up and running at Chessville. Be one of the dozen people who read it every month :)
At Goddesschess, dondelion has done a new Random Round-up - a very interesting one this week on headgear and horns and the Persian Goddess Anahita - modern Iranians still celebrate a holiday in her honor. Check RR out in the right-hand column under Axis Mundae.

This and That
A new Random Round-up is running at Goddesschess - from Mehen to particle accelerators, it's spooky physics all around. Located in the right-hand column down below Axis Mundae.
I don't remember if I told you - my August/September column is now up and running at Chessville.
And I've done some updating at Chess Femme News on the Women's World Chess Championship. I've got a lot to catch up on there!

Chess News
I've updated my coverage of the Women's World Chess Championship at Chess Femme News. I've stuck my neck way out and made predictions about who I think will make it through the Round 2 play-offs to Round 3. Gulp.
Goddesschess' latest edition of Random Round-up is also up and running for the next week.
I sent off my September, 2008 edition of Chessville's L'echecs des Femmes yesterday, but it hasn't been published yet, maybe not until this weekend.
Enjoy!

Goddesschess Update
Random Round-up has been updated. Since the core group of Goddesschess is going to be on vacation starting July 18th for 2 weeks, there will be no RR updates. I'll blog as I can.
In addition to the usual RR miscellany of interesting items, we've added two articles of note to our Chessquest section:
The Sacred Bone by Brian Stross pdf file 3.1 M instant download While Goddesschess is on vacation during the next two weeks, this article oughta hold ya! Formally titled "The Mesoamerican Sacrum Bone; Doorway to the Other World", here you will find 54 pages of excellent research on the subject of dice and related traditions. Thanks Brian! See also: html link - a good portal but lacking important graphic content. (July 13, 2008)
The Sacred Game by J.C. Hallman Goddesschess "enthusiastically" presents this informed thoughtspiece from the pen of J.C. Hallman. (July 6. 2008)

Random Round-Up
RR at Goddesschess has been updated by delion, the master web magician. This week he takes a look at a HOT HOT HOT topic - the Devil and chess. From the old tale about Paolo Boi and the Devil (image) to dreams of chess-playing incubi, he covers a wide spread of entertaining and enlightening information. Enjoy! Random Round-Up can be found in the right-hand column at Goddesschess under the Access Mundae. We did not consult this week about RR; sometimes I make suggestions and provide links to articles and information I found interesting (sometimes he uses that info, sometimes he doesn't); sometimes we're so busy doing our respective "things" we don't talk or email at all! It's interesting, therefore, that delion picked a "devilish" theme for RR this week, as it was also the theme of my June 1, 2008 coverage of the U.S. Women's Chess Championship at Chessville. Just another one of those little synchronicities that makes life so interesting...
And now, darlings, I'm going to take a break and cut the grass in the back yard. And then sit on the deck and enjoy a few glasses of wine while I catch up on some reading!

Goddesschess
Mr. Don has put together this week's edition of "Random Round-up" at Goddesschess (it's on the main page, on the right hand side, underneath Access Mundae).
Mr. Don has outdone himself this week, LOL! Please visit and check out the poster he put together for "Arkansas Smith and the Temple of Chess," featuring stars of Goddesschess from left to right: Isis, Mr. Don, yours truly as the Woman in Dark Glasses and our resident beautiful young person, Michelle. Rock Crystal is his theme this week, and he takes us on an adventure in chessly directions...
