2020 Women's World Chess Championship Match (FIDE Sponsored)

The event, playing venues which were split between Shanghai, China and Vladivostok, Russia, was held January 5 - 27, 2020.  After the 12 Round match between defending Women's World Chess Champion GM Wenjun Ju and GM Aleksandra Goryachkina ended 6-6, the players proceeded to a sudden death play-off (rapid tie breaks) that resulted in Ju winning 2.5-1.5.
